Top 5 Tips for Travelling in Thailand
Thailand is never the one must see place on my personal radar, but for most – it is. It’s a sure fire must see for most travellers to Asia and it’s loved by most travellers I meet. That’s why I thought it would be cool to do a top 5 tips for travelling in Thailand from my own experiences.
1. Start in Bangkok, But Don’t Worship It
Bangkok is an enigma and I’ll never work the place out. But it’s a perfect place to start your Thailand journey in. Fly into Suvarnabuhmi Airport and get your logistics sorted here while trying the local food and getting a feel for the country.
2. Avoid Party Places
You’re not here to meet other foreigners and party are you? I hope not. That would defeat the purpose of it all. Besides, I’ve heard rumours of boozed up English lads “out on the piss” and they pull up a girls skirt only to find “she” has a penis! Absolutely hilarious of course and these types of transfestite and ladyboy experiences are not as far fetched as you think.
3. Embrace Thai Culture
Head to some Wats, spend a night watching Buddhists, do a homestay with a local family. Basically do anything you can to get to grips with the local culture in Thailand. Too many people just hang out with ex-Pats and foreigners. Get with the locals.
4. Try Thai Food
Thai people love to cook and they love to eat. You can join a local cookery class, eat on street corners or even better, get in touch with Withlocals who can sort everything out for you right down to the food opportunities. You’ll enjoy it – Thai food is world class at its core!
5. Meet the Locals
Perhaps the most important thing about Thailand is the people that live here and the value they can bring to your lives. Thailand Tours like Withlocals help bring you closer to the local people in Thailand and get you an authentic feel for the personalities that brace the streets of this country.
Safe travels.
