Amsterdam is a hive of activity and a true social city that attracts tourists of all ages. It’s a city with lots of culture, history and exciting things to see and do. On my recent trip there, I got into 5 cool activities that are common in the area for locals and travellers. These all make the top 50 list for travelling in Amsterdam incidentally.

1. Cycling
There are bikes everywhere in Amsterdam and it’s easy to hire or buy a bike and work your way around the city. Some companies run bicycle tours but I did everything myself on bike.

2. Smoking
I’m talking weed and cannabis. This is the real city for it and there are still a load of bars that sell cannabis reefers! I smoked a few joints myself and even made videos of it and took photos. The weirdest thing ever is those are the only photos and videos from that trip that I can’t find on my hard drive, almost as if it was all a dream. It wasn’t! You can buy all sorts of things in the shops too, from condoms to cannabis seeds to beer with cannabis flavouring in them! 3. Drinking
Amsterdam is a rocking party city and a number of hostels and bars arrange pub crawls. This is a good way to meet locals and fellow travellers. AT night it’s one of the best party cities in Europe so let your hair down!

4. Shagging
It’s a case of walking through the red light district and taking your pick from the many girls that loiter in doorways and in open windows. They’ll flash their bits until money talks, they come to a deal with you and you lose your underwear.

5. Shopping
From condoms to cheese, Amsterdam is a city where shopping takes on a more unusual path. I’m a fan of the quirky Condomerie – world’s first condom shop.

One thing is for sure you will not be short of things to do in Amsterdam! I didn’t even mention the Cheese museum, clogs or Anne Frank!
