The Best Ways To Spend A Night Out in London, England
I have passed through London so many times down the years and I always love my time in the city. Back in 2006 – 2007 I lived in London, and I knew it well. I enjoyed lots of nights out, lots of museum tours and definitely I travelled to a lot of different districts in London. I love the tube – the huge underground network.
When considering options for what to do by night and day, there are countless possibilities in London, “the big smoke”. It depends on your personal preferences of course. You might want a late night out, you might want to stay sober, you might prefer the indoors, or even the outdoors. Here are 5 great options for nights out in London!
1.Dine Out At A Jamie Oliver Restaurant
Head to one of the famous restaurants owned by Celebrity UK chef Jamie Oliver. Once dubbed the Naked Chef, his recipes are so sublime, modern and quirky. It’s a cool place for a date too – so bring your partner along. If you are dining out in London, look out for promotions such as the squaremeal deal or the Happy Hour pizzas to save some cash.
2.Do the Monopoly Pub Crawl
Now this is a crazy one for those who love board games, beer, pubs and a challenge. Imagine trying to visit all 41 squares on the London Monopoly Board in the space of 24 hours?! Yes it can be done and is a really interesting day out. From Vine Street’s only pub to the Waterworks, this is a real adventure!
3.Watch a Lower League Football Team
Instead of heading to watch one of the Premier League big dogs in London – such as Arsenal, West Ham United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Queen’s Park Rangers, Millwall or Crystal Palace, why not watch a team like Barnet FC, Dagenham and Redbridge or even Leyton Orient. Prices are cheaper and you get a real raw evening out at the football.
There are even some non league teams based in and around London, and you might be lucky and catch one of them playing a big team in the FA Cup. Sutton United once knocked out Coventry City, while Barnet, Enfield and Dartford have all enjoyed cup shocks down the years.
4.Pie and Chips Night at a Local Pub Quiz
As a tourist to London, you can’t beat a good old English pub experience. Head to a traditional English pub for a steak and kidney pie complete with peas and chips. Sink a pint of real English bitter or ale with it and then enter the pub quiz. Pit your wits against the English with your general knowledge.
5.Popcorn and Wine Night at Soho Theatre
Visit the famous Soho Theatre for a play in a cosy venue, ensuring you indulge in some decent wine with the odd mix of popcorn. Pick a decent play to watch and book tickets in advance. There is an excellent play by a Northern Irish playwright called Paddy Campbell called “Wet House” which won many awards and details recovering alcoholics in their real life situations.
These are just 5 of my favourite ideas to spend a night out in London. I am sure you can come up with many other curiosities in England’s charming capital city.
