Last year I reported on the Uruguay v. Northern Ireland UFWC match. Since then we’ve had an entire World Cup and the UFWC trophy has changed hands 5 or 6 times. Along the way I managed to watch the drama unfold from 3 different continents as a nomadic football fan! In the first weekend of the World Cup, Uruguay’s surprise defeat to Costa Rica gave the Ticos the honours and they managed to take the UFWC all the way to the Quarter Finals, where they drew 0-0 with the Netherlands before losing on penalties. A superb performance from Costa Rica who conceded just 2 goals in 5 […]

Summer warmth and activities may seem topics for a distant future as you enjoy the holiday season and brave the bluster of winter. However, this is the best time of year for you to begin taking steps to get a beach-ready summer body. The indulgence of the Christmas season and the eagerness to resolve to do better in the New Year may be just the incentive needed to get you started and, with six months to go until the summer season commences, there is plenty of time to lose weight and get in shape in a healthy and more long-lasting way. Setting realistic goals […]

If you are planning a holiday soon, you may be thinking about exploring a new city to take in the hustle and bustle. A city full of great museums and restaurants, as well as providing you a unique insight into a new culture is a fantastic idea for a holiday. Finding a city that caters well for tourists, as well as offering everything you could possibly want on holiday can be challenging. One of the best places to find great culture and great conveniences for tourists is Barcelona.   There are five million people in Barcelona living and working together, and yet it is one […]

Sometimes you long to get away from the city and have a relaxing weekend out in the country, but where can you go that’s a relatively short drive away? If you’re anywhere near Broken Bow Lake in Oklahoma, you might consider making reservations at a place such as Beavers Bend Cabins or Bear Mountain Lodging. There, you can relax in the serenity of the woods, enjoying spectacular views as well as peace and quiet away from traffic and crowds. Of course, you don’t want to sit around your cabin all day. You’d like to experience some outdoor fun as well. In the Broken Bow Lake […]

Fondly known as the Edinburgh of the South, Dunedin holds a rather old and proud Scottish heritage. This university town is the second largest in the South Island of New Zealand and is known for its historic buildings scattered all across the city. Larnach Castle No trip to Dunedin is complete without a trip to this castle. Sitting high above the harbour, the construction of this beautiful structure was commissioned by William Larnach. During its time, it was the only castle in all of New Zealand. This property is best known for its 14 hectare garden. In addition to this, people love visiting this building […]

Thailand is never the one must see place on my personal radar, but for most – it is. It’s a sure fire must see for most travellers to Asia and it’s loved by most travellers I meet. That’s why I thought it would be cool to do a top 5 tips for travelling in Thailand from my own experiences. 1. Start in Bangkok, But Don’t Worship It Bangkok is an enigma and I’ll never work the place out. But it’s a perfect place to start your Thailand journey in. Fly into Suvarnabuhmi Airport and get your logistics sorted here while trying the local food and […]

Amsterdam is a hive of activity and a true social city that attracts tourists of all ages. It’s a city with lots of culture, history and exciting things to see and do. On my recent trip there, I got into 5 cool activities that are common in the area for locals and travellers. These all make the top 50 list for travelling in Amsterdam incidentally. 1. Cycling There are bikes everywhere in Amsterdam and it’s easy to hire or buy a bike and work your way around the city. Some companies run bicycle tours but I did everything myself on bike. 2. Smoking I’m talking […]

As we travel, using the phone can be a huge burden and strain on our wallets. Changing countries all the time is never easy. However recently I have come across ZipCall. The guys over at ZipCall have tried to revolutionise international calling with their latest move. When they launched their first international calls product some 12 years ago, a really cheap call to the USA would have cost about 5p/min. The latest move offers Free Calls from the UK to the USA and Canada! Since that launch 12 years back, the world has changed, fast internet, Facebook, the smartphone generation and mobile data have arrived on the scene, and it’s now pretty […]

All we “average” people like to take a break from everyday working life every so often, but it simply doesn’t occur to us that celebrities are just normal people too, working as hard as we are, sometimes even more so, and that they need to take some time off away from it all too. While their holiday spending budgets might be on a slightly different level to ours, it’s certainly not unusual to spot them out and about on their travels in the same destinations that we choose – did you know that 39% of people from the UK who have travelled abroad during the […]
