A city full of great museums and restaurants, as well as providing you a unique insight into a new culture is a fantastic idea for a holiday. Finding a city that caters well for tourists, as well as offering everything you could possibly want on holiday can be challenging. One of the best places to find great culture and great conveniences for tourists is Barcelona. There are five million people in Barcelona living and working together, and yet it is one […]

Amsterdam is a hive of activity and a true social city that attracts tourists of all ages. It’s a city with lots of culture, history and exciting things to see and do. On my recent trip there, I got into 5 cool activities that are common in the area for locals and travellers. These all make the top 50 list for travelling in Amsterdam incidentally. 1. Cycling There are bikes everywhere in Amsterdam and it’s easy to hire or buy a bike and work your way around the city. Some companies run bicycle tours but I did everything myself on bike. 2. Smoking I’m talking […]

It’s that time of year again in the English capital city – time for cocktail week. Having spent about 6 years living in England and a fair bit of time backpacking my way through it, one thing I always miss are the nights out. You might have read about the recent World Cup day in London or the Cluedo Pub crawl of 2012. This year, as ever from 6th – 12th October is the London Cocktail Week! It’s time to party and try some of the world’s finest cocktails in bars in good old London town! So to prepare for cocktail week, you’ll need to […]

Those who are planning to spend some time exploring Europe will find that one of the best ways to travel is by rail. Rail passengers are able to relax in comfort and enjoy the views as they pass from one country to the next. Why Europe? Despite the fact that all the European countries are so closely linked, each one has a very distinct identity, so within a matter of hours, several different cultures can be experienced at close quarters. InterRailing has become a popular gap year option for students before they head off to university, but there are also many older people discovering the […]

With so many cheap flights across Europe today, it’s really easy to pop over to Madrid in Spain for a weekend or just a few days. There’s no shortage of things to see and do there, in fact, if you’re only there for a short time, you’ll have to pick a few highlights to get a flavour of the city without going home feeling frazzled. See some sights There are many beautiful buildings in Madrid, but surely the most impressive is the Royal Palace, the largest palace in the whole of western Europe. Other highlights include Madrid Cathedral, and the Templo de Debod, an Egyptian […]

Despite the fact that their new manager Moyes has never won a trophy in his managerial career (OK some count the “Charity Shield”), Manchester United are still regarded somehow as one of the best teams in Europe. After their defeat against Guardiola’s Bayern Munich in the Champions League, the show must go on. The Red devils will meet Everton next week. It’s David Moyes against his old club!! I’ll give a rundown of some bars in and around Manchester that are a decent spot for a pre match drink. It’s easy enough to get Manchester United tickets online these days and flying to Manchester can be […]

Years ago me and my mates used to do pub crawls in London. It’s a great spot for it. Basically London has pubs on every corner. We worked our way through all the cool pubs crawls over the years: – the Monopoly Pub Crawl (pint in a bar on every Monopoly Street) – the London Football Grounds Pub Crawl (pint by every London football stadium) – the Circle Line Pub Crawl (start at Embankment and do a full circle, stopping at each station for a pint). What always amuses me are the wacky place names in London. I picked out these five tube stations to […]

Wales is a great country for the outdoors – lengthy strolls, hikes and fishing are some typical activities for travellers to the Welsh rivers and valleys. Fishermen or anglers tend to be very serious about their art, sport, or hobby of fishing depending on how you look at it. They spend hours dedicated to it, working, relaxing, or enjoying their craft. Newcomers are often fascinated by the details and the art of it. They are anxious to learn the finer aspects or details of angling that can take them to the next level. As a sport, it cannot be beat as anglers compete to be […]
