While Italy is a big country, and obviously one that you couldn’t possibly see all of in a two week holiday, planning your trip shouldn’t be arduous. With so much to see and do, it may be difficult to narrow down exactly where you want to visit!

1. The Colosseum

Arguably one of the most famous ruins of all time, and the embodiment of Ancient Roman architecture, the Colosseum, located in Rome, is possibly the most visited tourist attraction in Europe. The ancient ruins have stood the test of time in a city that has developed, and redeveloped, as the centuries have gone on. The most captivating aspect of the ancient amphitheatre is that it has stood in its grand glory, while the world has changed around it. It truly is a must-see attraction in Italy.

2. Bagatti Valsecchi Museum

Situated in Milan, this museum is home to a vast collection of renaissance art, a plethora of treasures such as glassware, tapestries, leather and ivory as well as musical and scientific instruments. This historic house is remarkable in its own right, and is well worth a visit should renaissance art be something that you are passionate about. Check out hotels in Milan with Venere.

3. The Leaning Tower of Pisa

The Leaning Tower of Pisa has got to be one of the most noted monuments in history and is the third oldest building in Pisa’s cathedral square. The leaning tower, so-called because of its 3.99 degree tilt is a freestanding bell tower located in Pisa. Affiliated with the Catholic Church, it is situated behind the cathedral of Pisa and truly is a remarkable feat of architecture.

4. The Amalfi Coast

If cities and structures start to become a little too much, then a trip to the Amalfi Coast is the perfect way to relax in Italy. The coastline stretches along Southern Italy and is simply one of the most stunning stretches of coast in Europe. The Amalfi Coast is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a cultural landscape and it is easy to see why this honour was bestowed. With the warm Mediterranean climes and the lush scenery, it’s main export is lemons meaning that you can get your fill of good limoncello during your stay.

5. Canals of Venice

Venice is raved about and it’s certainly worth a trip. It lives up to the hype. A city on water – in fact the original and best city on water in my opinion.
